Choose Your License Level
Texas licenses security officers in steps. Level II is required for every officer, Level III adds the commissioned (armed) license, and Level IV qualifies you for personal protection work. Each course below follows the exact curriculum modules required by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Before You Enroll — State Eligibility Notice
Under Texas law (HB 1508), a criminal history may make a person ineligible for a Texas security officer license. Before paying for any course, review the eligibility rules in Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1702 — and know that you have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the Texas Department of Public Safety before enrolling. MLG issues this same notice again at enrollment, before any payment is taken.

Yes. Texas allows the full Level II course — all 6 hours of instruction and the DPS exam — to be completed online. When you pass, we issue your PSP-36 certificate, which is filed with your license application in DPS TOPS.
Because Texas law doesn't allow it. The classroom theory can be taken online, but handgun proficiency, self-defense, and the live course-of-fire must be completed in person with a licensed instructor (Texas Occupations Code §1702.1675(g)). Any school advertising a fully online Level III is not following DPS rules.
Texas Occupations Code §1702.205(b) requires the Level IV personal protection course to be taught entirely in person, with the instructor present for all instruction. We run Level IV as scheduled cohorts at our Mission, TX facility.
No — only the Texas DPS issues licenses. Our courses give you the required training and the official certificate you submit with your TOPS application. DPS also requires fingerprints, a background check, and — for Level III — the MMPI psychological evaluation.
