Level II — Non-Commissioned Security Officer Course
The Level II course is the foundation license course required of every security officer in Texas. MLG delivers the complete course — instruction and the DPS exam — 100% online, using the exact curriculum modules required by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Program.

How You Finish
1. Enroll and verify your identity with a government-issued photo ID.
2. Complete all modules at your own pace — your progress and time in course are recorded, as DPS requires attendance for the full course.
3. Pass the DPS Level II examination (75% or better).
4. Receive your official PSP-36 certificate and submit it with your license application in DPS TOPS.

Eligibility — Read Before Enrolling
Under Texas law (HB 1508), a criminal history may make you ineligible for a security officer license, even after completing training. You have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the Texas DPS before enrolling. This course provides training and certification only — the license itself is issued solely by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Level II FAQ
The course is self-paced within your enrollment window. Texas requires the full 6 hours of instruction and a passing exam score — modules must be completed in full, not skipped.

No. Armed (commissioned) work requires the Level III course in addition to Level II. See our Level III page — many students take Level II first, then continue straight into Level III.
