6-HOUR DPS CURRICULUM • SELF-PACED

How Long Does the Texas Level II Course Take?

Texas DPS lists the Level II course as 6 hours of curriculum. That is the state's course length. At MLG, the full curriculum is delivered online: the narrated lessons run about 66 minutes, plus the reading on each slide and the final exam, and most students finish in one or two sittings. Because the course is self-paced, your time depends on you — not on a class schedule.

Where the Time Goes

  • 11 modules of DPS Level II curriculum, taken in order.
  • About 66 minutes of narration across the slides, which must play to the end before each next slide unlocks.
  • Reading and review on every slide, at your own speed.
  • The final exam at the end. Pass at 75% or better and your PSP-36 certificate is emailed automatically.

What About the Rest of the Licensing Path?

Training is only the first half. After you pass, you apply in TOPS, get fingerprinted, and wait for DPS review and your pocket card. That state side runs on DPS's timeline, so it is not counted in the course time above.

Common Questions

Can I finish Level II in one day?
Most students finish in one or two sittings. Nothing in the course forces you to spread it over days — it is self-paced from enrollment to exam.

Is there a deadline to finish?
Your access link stays live while you work through the course. Take it in one sitting or spread it out — your progress saves on your student record.

Does the 6-hour figure mean I sit for 6 hours?
No. Six hours is DPS's course length. MLG's online delivery covers the full curriculum in about 66 minutes of narration plus reading and the exam.
