Level 3 Security Guard Course in Laguna Vista, TX

Level III is the Texas commissioned (armed) security officer license — and from Laguna Vista, you start it online and finish it with us in the Valley. Laguna Vista is a small Texas community in Cameron County (about 4,000 residents, 2020 census), and its plants, hospitals, campuses, and commercial sites all post armed positions that require the commission. Start Level III online from Laguna Vista — finish skills and range with MLG in the Valley. Our Mission school and range are about 80 miles from Laguna Vista — an easy Valley drive for your in-person days.

How Level III works at MLG: modules 1–8 (the classroom theory) are completed online from home, and modules 9–12 are completed in person with MLG Protection in the Rio Grande Valley — defensive tactics, handcuffing, intermediate weapons, and firearms training with range qualification — led by instructor Armando Garza. When you finish, the school issues your full PSP-30 certificate covering the classroom, self-defense, and firearm sections. Tuition is $150 — enroll now and your online classroom opens right away. Taught by MLG Protection Services School, a TX DPS-licensed training school (License #F01356), Mission, TX.

How Getting Your Level III from Laguna Vista Works

  1. Enroll online ($150). Pay by card and modules 1–8 — the classroom theory — open immediately in your student classroom.
  2. Finish the theory online. Eight modules of the current Texas DPS Level III curriculum, self-paced from home — your progress saves to your student record on any device.
  3. Schedule your in-person block. Once your theory is done, the school office books your modules 9–12 days: defensive tactics, handcuffing, intermediate weapons, and firearms training with range qualification, in person with instructor Armando Garza in the Valley.
  4. Graduate with the full PSP-30. The school issues your certificate covering the classroom, self-defense, and firearm sections.
  5. Apply with Texas DPS in TOPS. Your commission is completed together with a licensed security company employer; DPS issues your pocket card after fingerprinting and review.

New to security? Texas requires the Level II training before a Level III commission can be issued — if you don't hold Level II yet, our Level II course is 100% online and is the place to start.

Eligibility: under Texas law (HB 1508), a criminal history may make you ineligible for a security officer license even after training — if anything in your record gives you pause, call the school at (956) 583-2004 before you enroll.
