Level 3 Renewal in Missouri City, TX
This is Level III Commissioned recertification — for commissioned officers renewing a Level III commission. This recertification is for Level III Commissioned officers only. Missouri City is a growing Texas city in Fort Bend County (about 74,000 residents, 2020 census), and its armed posts — plants, hospitals, campuses, patrol — all require the commission this recertification renews.
Two options, one online course. The Full recertification ($100) covers 6 hours of continuing education (CE) online plus a range requalification day with MLG, and you receive a CE certificate and a PSP-31. The Theory-only recertification ($85) covers the same 6 hours of CE online and you receive a CE certificate only — you complete the range requalification and PSP-31 with a licensed instructor elsewhere. The $15 gap between the two options is the range day. Book a Full range day through the school office at (956) 583-2004. Taught by MLG Protection Services, a TX DPS-licensed training school (License #F01356), Mission, TX.
How Level III Commissioned Recertification from Missouri City Works
- Enroll online — Full $100 or Theory-only $85. Pay by card and your online classroom opens right away.
- Complete 6 hours of CE online. The Level III Commissioned recertification curriculum, self-paced from home. The classroom carries an audio gate: each slide's narration must play through to the end before you can move on, so the hours are genuinely heard, not skimmed.
- Pass the 20-question exam (75% to pass). Twenty questions on the recertification curriculum; 75% is the passing mark.
- Full option: range requalification day with MLG. Book through the school office at (956) 583-2004. On completion you receive your CE certificate and your PSP-31.
- Theory-only option: CE certificate only. You receive your CE certificate for the online course; you complete the range requalification and PSP-31 with a licensed instructor elsewhere. Theory-only alone does not complete a renewal that requires a PSP-31.
- Renew with Texas DPS. Your DPS renewal application itself is separate from course tuition. Keep your certificates: CE certificates are kept for 2 years.
Eligibility: under Texas law (HB 1508), a criminal history may make you ineligible for a security officer license even after training — if anything in your record gives you pause, call the school at (956) 583-2004 before you enroll.
Missouri City Level III Commissioned Recertification — Common Questions
What is the difference between Full ($100) and Theory-only ($85)?
Both
cover the same 6 hours of CE online, the same 20-question exam, and the same audio gate.
Full adds the range requalification day with MLG and the PSP-31; Theory-only gives you the
CE certificate only, and you finish the range and PSP-31 elsewhere. The $15 difference is
the range day.
How does the audio gate work?
Each narrated slide must play through
to the end before the next step unlocks. Seeking ahead snaps back, and playback is at
normal speed — the gate is how the school verifies the CE hours were actually heard.
When does my CE count toward renewal?
CE only counts if completed
within the 2 years before your license expiration. CE completed outside that window does
not count, so time your enrollment to your expiration date.
How long do I keep my certificates?
CE certificates are kept for
2 years. Keep your CE certificate and, for the Full option, your PSP-31 with your renewal
records.
What if my license expired more than one year ago?
Expired more than
one year means DPS treats you as an original applicant — you go through the original
application process, not a renewal. This follows DPS Private Security Bureau guidance and
Texas Occupations Code §1702.302(d). If that is your situation, call the school at
(956) 583-2004 before enrolling so you take the right course.
Where is the school, and how do I book the range day?
MLG Protection Services, a TX DPS-licensed training school (License #F01356), Mission, TX.
Full students book their range requalification day through the school office at
(956) 583-2004.
