Level 2 Security Guard Course in Alamo, TX

The Texas Level II course is the license every security officer in the state must hold first — and from Alamo, you can finish all of it without leaving home. Alamo is a Texas community in Hidalgo County (about 19,000 residents, 2020 census), and its stores, warehouses, job sites, clinics, schools, and events all need licensed guards. Our course is built on the current Texas DPS Level II curriculum, delivered 100% online by a DPS-licensed training school: study the modules, pass the final exam at 75%, and your PSP-36 certificate is emailed to you. Tuition is $55 — enroll now and your classroom opens right away.

How Getting Licensed from Alamo Works

  1. Enroll online ($55). Pay by card and your classroom opens immediately — the Participant Guide is attached to your enrollment email.
  2. Finish the 11 modules. Six hours of DPS curriculum, self-paced, in order — your progress saves to your student record on any device.
  3. Pass the final exam (75%+). Your PSP-36 certificate of completion is generated and emailed to you automatically.
  4. Apply with Texas DPS in TOPS. Your registration is completed together with a licensed security company employer; DPS issues your pocket card after fingerprinting and review.

Eligibility: under Texas law (HB 1508), a criminal history may make you ineligible for a security officer license even after training — if anything in your record gives you pause, call the school at (956) 583-2004 before you enroll.

You're Local — Your Options Are Wider

Alamo is Rio Grande Valley home turf for MLG Protection Services. Our school sits in Mission — about 16 miles from Alamo. That means Level II online is only the start: when you're ready for Level III, the in-person skills sessions and firearms qualification happen at our Mission school and range — no long drive across Texas. You can also enroll in person at the school office (2515-B East Griffin Parkway, Mission) and pay cash, or start online right now.

Alamo Level II — Common Questions

Do I ever have to travel to Mission?
No. Level II at MLG is 100% online — modules, exam, and certificate. (Our school is in Mission, TX, and you're welcome, but the course never requires the trip.)

How long does it take?
The course is 6 hours of curriculum, self-paced. Most students finish in one or two sittings; you have your access link the whole time.

What do I receive?
The official DPS training certificate (form PSP-36) by email, plus the Level II Participant Guide — the course's basic reference document.

Can I work as a guard with just the certificate?
The certificate is your training proof. Your Level II registration is completed in TOPS together with a licensed security company employer, and DPS issues the pocket card you carry on duty.

What does it cost, all in?
Tuition here is $55 flat. DPS charges its own application and fingerprint fees separately when you apply.
